Problem

In a school project, a student wishes to produce a force of 0.60 N0.60\,\text{N} on a straight wire kept perpendicular to a magnetic field. The available wire can safely carry a current of up to 2.0 A2.0\,\text{A} and a length of 40 cm40\,\text{cm} can be placed within the field. (i) Calculate the minimum magnetic field strength required to obtain the desired 0.60 N0.60\,\text{N} force under the given conditions. (ii) If only a 1.5 A1.5\,\text{A} current source is available, determine the length of wire (in cm) that must lie within the same magnetic field found in part (i) to produce the same 0.60 N0.60\,\text{N} force. (iii) Comment briefly on how the required length of wire depends on the current when the desired force and magnetic field are kept constant.
