Problem

Let PP be an m×nm \times n matrix, QQ an n×3n \times 3 matrix and RR a matrix such that the expression PQ+RPQ+R is defined. Suppose further that m=4m=4 and n=5n=5. (i) Determine the order of PQPQ. (ii) Using the fact that PQ+RPQ+R is a valid sum, find the order of RR. (iii) Compute the total number of elements in each of the matrices PQPQ and PQ+RPQ+R. (iv) For these values of mm and nn, compare the number of elements in RR with that in PP, and state which matrix contains more elements.
