Problem

A Young slits interference pattern is observed on a distant screen when monochromatic light passes through two equally narrow slits. (1) The two slits are replaced by a large number of slits, each of the same width as the originals and each separated by the same distance as before. Sketch a diagram to show how the observations compare to observations for only two slits. (2) What has happened to the intensity of the maxima? Explain. (3) What has happened to the spacing of the maxima? Explain. (4) What has happened to the width of the maxima? Explain.
