Problem

The curve y=x2y = x^{2} is drawn on the Cartesian plane. (i) Test each of the points P(−2,4)P(-2,4), Q(−2,−4)Q(-2,-4), R(3,9)R(3,9) and S(0,1)S(0,1) for membership on the curve, showing full substitution and simplification. (ii) List all ordered pairs of integers (x,y)(x, y) satisfying −3≤x≤3-3 \le x \le 3 that lie on the curve. (iii) Using the list obtained in part (ii), explain how the symmetry of the curve about the yy–axis is reflected in the coordinates of the points.
