Problem
A small truck of mass 1500kg is travelling on a level road at 12m/s. While in motion it drops sand so that its mass steadily decreases to 1200kg. At the same time its speed increases to 15m/s.
(i) Calculate the initial kinetic energy of the truck.
(ii) Calculate the final kinetic energy after the mass and speed have changed.
(iii) Determine the percentage change in kinetic energy of the truck as a result of these simultaneous changes. Show all working clearly.
