Problem

A spring–mass system with force constant 150 N m−1150\,\text{N}\,\text{m}^{-1} oscillates with amplitude 0.10 m0.10\,\text{m}. The mass moves from the equilibrium position (x=0x = 0) to x=0.08 mx = 0.08\,\text{m}. (i) Calculate the magnitude of work done by the spring force during this displacement. (ii) Determine the change in kinetic energy of the mass between these two positions.
