Problem

Two coaxial circular loops lie in the same plane and share the same centre. Loop A has radius 10 cm10\,\text{cm} and carries a clockwise current of 3 A3\,\text{A}. Loop B has radius 5 cm5\,\text{cm} and carries an anticlockwise current of 2 A2\,\text{A}. (i) Calculate the magnitude of the net magnetic field at the common centre. (ii) State whether this net field points into the plane of the loops or out of the plane, when viewed from the side where the currents appear as described. (Take μ0=4π×10−7 T m A−1\mu_0 = 4\pi \times 10^{-7}\,\text{T m A}^{-1}.)
