Problem

Consider the following two sets of points in the Cartesian plane. (a) For the points A(2,−1)A(2,-1), B(5,3)B(5,3) and C(9,7)C(9,7), calculate the area of the triangle formed. (b) For the points P(−2,4)P(-2,4), Q(1,8)Q(1,8) and R(4,12)R(4,12), calculate the area of the triangle formed. (c) On the basis of your calculations in parts (a) and (b), state which set of points is collinear and justify your answer.
