Problem

A charge +q+q is fixed at each of the points x=x0,3x0,5x0,…x=x_0,3x_0,5x_0,\ldots on the xx-axis, and a charge −q-q is fixed at each of the points x=2x0,4x0,6x0,…x=2x_0,4x_0,6x_0,\ldots. Here x0x_0 is a positive constant. The electric potential at a point due to a charge qq at distance rr is q4πϵ0r\frac{q}{4\pi\epsilon_0r}. The potential at the origin due to the above system is (1) 0 (2) q8πϵ0x0ln⁡2\frac{q}{8\pi\epsilon_0x_0\ln2} (3) ∞\infty (4) qln⁡24πϵ0x0\frac{q\ln2}{4\pi\epsilon_0x_0}
