Problem

A thin uniform circular ring of radius 0.15 m0.15\,\text{m} and mass 1.0 kg1.0\,\text{kg} lies in the xyxy–plane with its centre at the origin. Solve the following: (i) Obtain the moment of inertia of the ring about any diameter. (ii) Determine the moment of inertia about an axis perpendicular to the plane of the ring and passing through a point on its circumference. (iii) Find the ratio of the value obtained in part (ii) to that obtained in part (i), and comment briefly on the physical significance of your answer.
