Problem

A flywheel is modelled as a uniform solid disc of mass 50 kg50\,\text{kg} and radius 0.50 m0.50\,\text{m}. Starting from rest, it is brought to an angular speed of 300 rpm300\,\text{rpm} in 20 s20\,\text{s} by a motor delivering constant power. (i) Calculate the moment of inertia of the flywheel about its central axis. (ii) Determine the angular acceleration produced during the 20 s20\,\text{s} interval. (iii) Compute the rotational kinetic energy stored in the flywheel at the final speed. (iv) Find the work done on the flywheel and the average power delivered by the motor during the acceleration period.
