Problem

A 25.0 g sample of ethanol is warmed from 15.0 °C to 65.0 °C. Over the range 15–40 °C, the specific heat capacity of ethanol is 2.44 J g⁻¹ °C⁻¹; over the range 40–65 °C, it is 2.22 J g⁻¹ °C⁻¹. Determine the total heat, in kilojoules, required for this temperature change.
