Problem
An electron is accelerated from rest through a potential difference of 1.0 kV and then enters a region of uniform magnetic field 0.02 T directed perpendicular to its velocity.
(i) Calculate the speed acquired by the electron before it enters the magnetic field.
(ii) Determine the radius of its circular path in the magnetic field.
(iii) Find the time period of revolution of the electron and hence the number of complete revolutions it makes in 1.0 µs. (Take e = 1.6×10⁻¹⁹ C, m_e = 9.1×10⁻³¹ kg.)
