Problem
For an ideal gas undergoing an isothermal change at temperature T, the pressure changes from P1 to P2.
(i) Derive an expression for the work done W during this change in terms of P1, P2, and T.
(ii) A sample of 1.5mol ideal gas at 300K is compressed isothermally from 1.0×105Pa to 3.0×105Pa. Calculate the work done on the gas.
