Problem

A ladder is placed against a vertical wall such that it reaches a window 8 m8\text{ m} above the ground. The foot of the ladder is 6 m6\text{ m} away from the wall on level ground. (i) Show that the length of the ladder is 10 m10\text{ m}. (ii) For the angle α\alpha that the ladder makes with the ground, find sin⁡α\sin \alpha, cos⁡α\cos \alpha and tan⁡α\tan \alpha. (iii) Using the value of tan⁡α\tan \alpha, calculate cot⁡α\cot \alpha and csc⁡α\csc \alpha.
