Problem

A 20 μH20\,\mu\text{H} coil will be used in a series resonant circuit intended to pick up a 5 MHz5\,\text{MHz} signal. The expected current at resonance is 0.40 A0.40\,\text{A}. Capacitors available have a working rms voltage of 100 V100\,\text{V}. (a) (i) Calculate the capacitance required for resonance. (b) (ii) Determine the rms voltage that will appear across the capacitor at resonance and state whether the 100 V100\,\text{V} rating is adequate. (c) Give the capacitance in pF\text{pF} (nearest whole number) and the voltage in volts (nearest volt).
