Problem

Two light, inextensible strings OAOA and OBOB are attached to a small ring OO from which an ornament of mass 10 kg10\,\text{kg} is suspended vertically. String OAOA is inclined at 60∘60^{\circ} to the vertical on the left of OO, while string OBOB is inclined at 30∘30^{\circ} to the vertical on the right of OO. (a) Draw the free-body diagram of the ring. (b) Determine the tension in each string. (c) If each string can safely withstand a maximum tension of 150 N150\,\text{N}, calculate the greatest mass of the ornament that can be supported without breaking either string, keeping the inclination angles unchanged.
