Problem

A conducting rod of length 0.40 m0.40\,\text{m} slides without friction on two parallel conducting rails. The rails are joined at one end by a 6.0 Ω6.0\,\Omega resistor, forming a closed rectangular loop. The rod moves to the right at a steady 2.5 m s−12.5\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-1} in a uniform magnetic field of 0.75 T0.75\,\text{T} directed into the page and perpendicular to the plane of the rails. Calculate the current that flows through the resistor.
