Problem

A 2s2s electron in a lithium atom (+3e+3e nucleus) is 1.60 A˚1.60\,\text{\AA} from the nucleus. A 2s2s electron in a beryllium atom (+4e+4e nucleus) is 1.00 A˚1.00\,\text{\AA} from its nucleus. Using k=8.99×109 N⋅m2 ⁣/ ⁣C2k = 8.99\times10^{9}\,\text{N}\cdot\text{m}^2\!\big/\!\text{C}^2 and e=1.60×10−19 Ce = 1.60\times10^{-19}\,\text{C}, calculate the percent increase in the magnitude of the attractive force experienced by the 2s2s electron in beryllium compared with lithium.
