Problem

A current of 0.50 A0.50\,\text{A} is maintained through a thin silver wire. How long will it take for 1.5×10211.5\times10^{21} free electrons to cross any cross–section of the wire? (i) First, calculate the total charge corresponding to 1.5×10211.5\times10^{21} electrons. (ii) Hence, determine the required time for this charge to pass through the given cross–section. (Use e=1.6×10−19 Ce = 1.6 \times 10^{-19}\,\text{C}.)
