Problem

A straight line passes through the point (2,−1)(2, -1) and has slope 34\dfrac{3}{4}. Answer the questions that follow: (i) Obtain the equation of the line in the form y=mx+cy = mx + c. (ii) Determine the coordinates where this line meets the coordinate axes. (iii) Draw the graph of the line on suitable scales, clearly marking the intercepts and the given point. (iv) Using the equation, calculate the value of xx when y=5y = 5.
