Problem

In a parallelogram OABCOABC, the adjacent sides are represented by vectors a=OA→\mathbf{a}=\overrightarrow{OA} and b=OC→\mathbf{b}=\overrightarrow{OC}. (i) Express the diagonals OB→\overrightarrow{OB} and AC→\overrightarrow{AC} in terms of a\mathbf{a} and b\mathbf{b}. (ii) Show that the diagonals bisect each other by finding the position vector of their point of intersection. (iii) If ∣a∣=7|\mathbf{a}|=7 units, ∣b∣=5|\mathbf{b}|=5 units and a⋅b=17\mathbf{a}\cdot\mathbf{b}=17, calculate the lengths of the two diagonals.
