Problem

A rectangular aluminium wall of area 2.0 m22.0\,\text{m}^2 is to be used in a heat exchanger. The inner surface will be held at 60∘C60^\circ\text{C} and the outer surface at 30∘C30^\circ\text{C}. If the allowable rate of heat loss is 300 W300\,\text{W} and the thermal conductivity of aluminium is 205 W m−1 K−1205\,\text{W m}^{-1}\,\text{K}^{-1}, determine the minimum thickness the wall must have.
