Problem

Two identical bar magnets are placed horizontally on a table with their north poles facing each other and kept 5 cm apart. (i) Draw the expected magnetic field line pattern in the region between and around the magnets. (ii) On your diagram, mark all neutral point(s) where the resultant magnetic field is expected to be zero. (iii) Explain qualitatively why a neutral point is produced in this arrangement of like poles. (iv) Predict and explain how the position of the neutral point(s) will change if the distance between the two north poles is reduced to 3 cm.
