Problem

A cyclist rides at a constant speed of 5 m/s5\,\text{m/s} on a circular track of radius 20 m20\,\text{m}. (i) Explain clearly why the cyclist is said to be in accelerated motion even though his speed does not change. (ii) Compare this situation with the same cyclist moving at 5 m/s5\,\text{m/s} on a straight road. State, with reason, whether he is accelerated in that case. (iii) Name the physical quantity that keeps changing for the cyclist on the circular track and remains unchanged on the straight road.
