Problem

A horizontal water pipeline consists of three successive circular sections of diameters 5 cm5\,\text{cm}, 8 cm8\,\text{cm} and 2.5 cm2.5\,\text{cm} respectively. The speed of water in the first section is 3.0 m s−13.0\,\text{m\,s}^{-1}. (i) Calculate the speeds of water in the second and third sections. (ii) The outlet of the third section is used to fill a 200 L200\,\text{L} container. Estimate the time required to fill the container completely.
