Problem

A circular conducting loop of initial radius 5.0 cm5.0\,\text{cm} lies in a uniform magnetic field of magnitude 0.40 T0.40\,\text{T} directed perpendicular to the plane of the loop and inward. The loop is pulled uniformly so that its radius becomes 8.0 cm8.0\,\text{cm} in a time of 0.20 s0.20\,\text{s}. The resistance of the loop is 2.0 Ω2.0\,\Omega. Answer the following. (i) Calculate the magnitude of the average induced emf developed in the loop during the stretching process. (ii) When viewed from the side from which the field lines enter the loop, state whether the induced current flows clockwise or anticlockwise. Give a brief reason. (iii) Determine the total charge that passes through a cross-section of the loop in the given time interval.
