Problem

A spherical rubber balloon of radius 25 cm is filled with 2.0 g of helium gas at 20 °C. Assume the balloon remains perfectly spherical and its volume does not change with pressure. Answer the following. (i) Calculate the volume of the balloon in cubic metres. (ii) Determine the pressure of the helium inside the balloon in pascal, taking the universal gas constant as 8.314 J mol⁻¹ K⁻¹ and the molar mass of helium as 4.0 g mol⁻¹. (iii) Write your final answer for pressure correct to two significant figures and state the reason for choosing this level of precision.
