Problem

Particle M begins at the origin at t=0t=0 and moves with position sM(t)=8ts_M(t)=8t, where ss is in meters and tt in seconds. Particle N also starts at the origin but does not begin moving until t=5 st=5\text{ s}; for t≥5t\ge 5 its position is sN(t)=20(t−5)s_N(t)=20(t-5). At what time, if ever, do the two particles next coincide? (a) t=10 st=10\text{ s} (b) t=253 st=\dfrac{25}{3}\text{ s} (c) t=5 st=5\text{ s} (d) They never coincide for t≥5 st\ge 5\text{ s}.
