Problem

In a laboratory experiment the same straight wire is used in two different orientations within the same uniform magnetic field of strength 0.40 T0.40\,\text{T}. In the first trial the wire is held perpendicular to the field and a current of 10 A10\,\text{A} produces a measured force of 0.32 N0.32\,\text{N}. In the second trial the wire is rotated to an unknown angle and the current is changed to 6.0 A6.0\,\text{A}, giving a measured force of 0.12 N0.12\,\text{N}. Answer the following: (i) Calculate the length of the wire that lies inside the magnetic field. (ii) Calculate the angle between the wire and the magnetic field in the second trial.
