Problem

Consider the matrices M=[p+q3r12pq−ps],N=[89110−2s].M=\begin{bmatrix}p+q & 3r & 1\\ 2p & q-p & s\end{bmatrix},\quad N=\begin{bmatrix}8 & 9 & 1\\ 10 & -2 & s\end{bmatrix}. It is given that M=NM=N. (i) By comparing MM and NN, write the equations relating p, q, rp,\,q,\,r and ss. (ii) Solve these equations to find p, qp,\,q and rr. (iii) What can you conclude about the parameter ss? Justify your answer.
