Problem

Three forces act on a uniform circular plate free to rotate about a central axis perpendicular to its plane: (i) A 15 N15\,\text{N} force is applied tangentially at point A on the rim (0.20 m0.20\,\text{m} from the centre) so as to produce counter-clockwise rotation. (ii) A 10 N10\,\text{N} force is applied tangentially at point B on the rim (0.20 m0.20\,\text{m} from the centre) so as to produce clockwise rotation. (iii) A 12 N12\,\text{N} force is applied at point C on the rim along a line joining C to the centre. Taking counter-clockwise torque as positive, calculate the net torque acting on the plate and state the sense (clockwise or counter-clockwise) of the resulting rotation.
