Problem

A stone is thrown vertically upward from the edge of a 25 m25\,\text{m} high building with an initial speed of 18 m/s18\,\text{m/s}. Take upward direction as positive and g=9.8 m/s2g = 9.8\,\text{m/s}^2. (i) Calculate the total time taken by the stone to reach the ground at the foot of the building. (ii) Determine its speed just before it strikes the ground.
