Problem

A turntable rotates steadily at 33 13 rpm33\,\frac{1}{3}\,\text{rpm}. A small object is placed at a distance of 15 cm15\,\text{cm} from the centre on the turntable surface. (i) Express the angular speed of the turntable in rad s−1\text{rad}\,\text{s}^{-1}. (ii) Express the same angular speed in degrees per second. (iii) Calculate the linear speed of the object. (iv) If the rotation speed is instantly doubled to 66 23 rpm66\,\frac{2}{3}\,\text{rpm} while the object remains at the same radius, determine its new linear speed and state the factor by which the linear speed has changed.
