Problem

(Counting zeros and extrema of cos⁡x\cos x) (i) In the interval [−7π2, 9π2]\left[-\dfrac{7\pi}{2},\, \dfrac{9\pi}{2}\right], list all the zeros of y=cos⁡xy=\cos x. (ii) Find the coordinates of each maximum and minimum point of y=cos⁡xy=\cos x within the same interval. (iii) Calculate the total number of extrema (both maxima and minima together) that occur for y=cos⁡xy=\cos x between x=−7π2x=-\dfrac{7\pi}{2} and x=9π2x=\dfrac{9\pi}{2}.
