Problem

The maximum air temperature (∘^{\circ}C) recorded on ten consecutive days is given below. City P: 34, 35, 33, 36, 34, 35, 33, 34, 35, 34 City Q: 32, 38, 29, 41, 30, 39, 31, 40, 28, 42 (i) Find the mean daily maximum temperature for each city. (ii) Calculate the range and the population standard deviation for each city, taking the ten values to be the entire population. (iii) Using your calculations, comment on which city offers more predictable weather to tourists. Support your answer with numerical evidence. (iv) State whether the two measures—range and standard deviation—lead to the same conclusion in this case and explain briefly.
