Problem

Three identical spheres A, B and C have densities 0.8 g/cm30.8\,\text{g/cm}^3, 0.95 g/cm30.95\,\text{g/cm}^3 and 1.1 g/cm31.1\,\text{g/cm}^3 respectively. They are released at the surface of a large tank of water of density 1.0 g/cm31.0\,\text{g/cm}^3. (i) State which sphere(s) will sink to the bottom, which will float fully above the surface, and which will float partially submerged. (ii) Arrange the spheres in ascending order of the depth to which they are submerged in water. Justify your answer briefly.
