Problem

An inertial frame of reference S′S' moves past another inertial frame SS moving to the left with speed 25 m s−125 \text{ m s}^{-1}. At time zero the origins of the two frames coincide. (1) A phone rings at location x′=24 mx' = 24 \text{ m} and t=5.0 st = 5.0 \text{ s}. Determine using Galilean transformation equations the location of this event in the SS frame. (2) A ball is measured to have velocity −15 m s−1-15 \text{ m s}^{-1} in frame SS. Calculate the velocity of the ball in frame S′S'.
