Problem
Capacitors of 4μF, 6μF, and 12μF are connected in series to a 120V d.c. source.
(i) Calculate the equivalent capacitance of the combination.
(ii) Determine the charge stored on each capacitor when the circuit reaches steady state.
(iii) Find the potential difference across each capacitor.
(iv) Show numerically that the algebraic sum of the potential differences obtained in part (iii) equals the applied voltage of 120V.
