Problem

A ball of mass 1.5 kg1.5\,\text{kg} is projected vertically upward from the ground with an initial speed of 20 m s−120\,\text{m\,s}^{-1}. While the ball is moving upward, a constant resistive force of 6 N6\,\text{N} acts on it in the downward direction in addition to gravity. (i) Obtain, in symbolic form, an expression for the maximum height hh reached by the ball in terms of its initial speed uu, mass mm, gravitational acceleration gg and the magnitude RR of the resistive force. (ii) Using your expression, calculate the numerical value of hh for the given data.
