Problem

A shell of mass 6 kg6\,\text{kg}, initially at rest on a smooth horizontal plane, explodes into three fragments of masses 1 kg1\,\text{kg}, 2 kg2\,\text{kg} and 3 kg3\,\text{kg}. The 1 kg1\,\text{kg} fragment moves due east with a speed of 30 m s−130\,\text{m\,s}^{-1}, while the 2 kg2\,\text{kg} fragment moves due north with a speed of 20 m s−120\,\text{m\,s}^{-1}. The speed and direction of the 3 kg3\,\text{kg} fragment are (a) 25 m s−125\,\text{m\,s}^{-1} at 53∘53^{\circ} south of west (b) 16.7 m s−116.7\,\text{m\,s}^{-1} at 53∘53^{\circ} south of west (c) 16.7 m s−116.7\,\text{m\,s}^{-1} at 53∘53^{\circ} north of west (d) 36 m s−136\,\text{m\,s}^{-1} at 34∘34^{\circ} south of west
