Problem

A grinding wheel is rotating freely at 120 rad s−1120\,\text{rad\,s}^{-1}. The driving power is cut off and the wheel is observed to come to rest after turning through 2020 complete revolutions. Assume the angular deceleration to be uniform. (i) Calculate the magnitude of the angular deceleration. (ii) Determine the time taken by the wheel to come to rest. (iii) Find the angular speed of the wheel after it has completed the first 55 revolutions during the slowing process.
