Problem

During a vertical ground test, a rocket engine exerts a downward force of 2.5×103 N2.5\times10^{3}\,\text{N} on the launch pad, represented by F⃗engine→pad=−2.5×103k^ N\vec{F}_{\text{engine}\to\text{pad}} = -2.5\times10^{3}\hat{k}\,\text{N} (negative k^\hat{k} is downward). (a) Determine the force exerted by the launch pad on the engine. (b) Add the two forces vectorially and show that the net force on the engine–pad system is zero.
