Problem

An open-top cuboidal aquarium has inner height 45 cm45\,\text{cm}. Its length is 1.51.5 times its breadth. The aquarium can hold 81 L81\,\text{L} of water when filled to the brim. (i) Convert the capacity of the aquarium into cubic centimetres. (ii) Form an equation in the breadth b (cm)b\,(\text{cm}) and hence find bb, correct to the nearest millimetre. (iii) Using the value of bb found in part (ii), determine the corresponding length, correct to the nearest millimetre. (iv) Calculate the total inner surface area of the four vertical sides and the base (the area that would be in contact with water), correct to the nearest square centimetre.
