Problem

A 3.0 kg3.0\,\text{kg} solid uniform disk of radius 0.20 m0.20\,\text{m} can rotate freely about its central axle. A light, non-stretching string is wrapped around the rim and supports a 1.2 kg1.2\,\text{kg} mass hanging vertically. Determine the magnitude of the downward linear acceleration of the 1.2 kg1.2\,\text{kg} mass. (For a solid disk, I=12MR2I=\tfrac12MR^2.)
