Problem

A freight trolley of mass 200 kg200\,\text{kg} rolls along a horizontal track at a speed of 2 m/s2\,\text{m/s}. (i) Calculate its kinetic energy. (ii) While the trolley is at rest, goods of mass 50 kg50\,\text{kg} are loaded onto it. The loaded trolley is then set in motion again at the same speed of 2 m/s2\,\text{m/s}. Calculate the new kinetic energy. (iii) By what percentage has the kinetic energy increased due to loading the goods? Show the steps clearly. (iv) The 250 kg250\,\text{kg} loaded trolley is now accelerated until its kinetic energy becomes four times the value obtained in part (ii). Determine its new speed.
