Problem

Answer the following questions about rational exponents. (i) State the meaning of a1/na^{1/n} for a positive real number aa and an integer n>1n>1. (ii) Show that (an)m=am/n(\sqrt[n]{a})^{m}=a^{m/n} for positive real aa and integers m,n>1m,n>1. (iii) Using the result in part (ii), write each of the following in rational-exponent form and evaluate: (a) 325\sqrt[5]{32} (b) 814\sqrt[4]{81}.
