Problem

A rectangular garden is represented on graph paper by its four vertices A(2,1)A(2,1), B(6,1)B(6,1), C(6,4)C(6,4) and D(2,4)D(2,4). (i) Plot the points AA, BB, CC and DD on a Cartesian plane and join them in the order given. (ii) What geometric figure is obtained? Explain how the plotted points confirm your answer. (iii) Find the length of each side of the figure by reading the scale of the axes and hence calculate its perimeter. (iv) Determine the area of the garden in square units.
