Problem

In a hydraulic press, the smaller piston has an area of 12 cm212\,\text{cm}^2 while the larger piston has an area of 300 cm2300\,\text{cm}^2. A force of 150 N is applied on the smaller piston. (i) Determine the pressure transmitted through the confined liquid. (ii) Calculate the force obtained at the larger piston. (iii) Explain how this arrangement illustrates the principle governing transmission of pressure in an enclosed static fluid.
