Problem

A ball is dropped from the roof of a tall building. It passes the top edge of a balcony that is 3.0 m3.0\,\text{m} high and requires 0.25 s0.25\,\text{s} to cross the full height of the balcony. Assume g=9.8 m/s2g = 9.8\,\text{m/s}^2. (i) Calculate the velocity of the ball as it reaches the top edge of the balcony. (ii) Determine the time elapsed from the moment the ball was released to the instant it reaches the top edge of the balcony. (iii) Find the vertical distance between the point of release on the roof and the top edge of the balcony.
